CareSouth Selected to Manage Hamilton's Homecare and Hospice

July 24, 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARLINGTON, VA--Capitol Partners, one of the Mid-Atlantic region's premier private equity firms, has announced that its portfolio platform company CareSouth Health System has been selected to manage home health and hospice services for Hamilton Medical Center, a 282-bed facility in Dalton, Ga. that is part of the Hamilton Healthcare System.

Under the agreement, CareSouth will oversee insurance verification, authorization for services from managed care, billing and collections, cash posting, financial reporting and utilization review and management for Hamilton Home Health Care and Hospice.

"We selected CareSouth to manage our home health and hospice departments because the company has a proven track record in the home health industry and a reputation for low days sales outstanding and high accuracy in OASIS scoring," said Jay Dennard, vice president of Hamilton Medical Center. "We feel confident that our partnership with CareSouth will further enhance our home health and hospice services for our patients."

As a CareSouth client, Hamilton Home Health Care and Hospice will now have access to McKesson's new software program, Horizon Homecare, for back office functions. Hamilton Medical Center pays no capital costs for the software and simply accesses it through a secure network that connects the facility to CareSouth's central offices in Augusta, Ga.

"There are significant savings for the home health and hospice departments at Hamilton Medical Center related to work flow efficiencies that will be realized with the use of the Horizon product," said Terri Ferry, senior vice president at CareSouth. "The elimination of current IT costs and FTE savings as well as a reduction in the days sales outstanding are all benefits that will be realized as a result of our partnership."

CareSouth began working with Hamilton Home Health Care on July 1. The hospice contract goes into effect Aug. 1.

Based in Augusta, Georgia, CareSouth owns agencies in Alabama, California, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee and manages operations throughout the country. It has management contracts with 90 facilities across the country. The company has successfully designed and built an infrastructure to support the management of home health care agencies in an extended geographic area providing management services and information technology for millions of annual patient visits. Its vision is to deliver the highest quality home care services in a most cost-effective manner creating value for our patients and customers.
